What Happens in a Visit to an Ayurvedic Expert?

Your initial Ayurveda consultation will consist of an in-depth assessment of your general health, diet and lifestyle to discover your body constitution (Prakruti). Traditional techniques such as pulse, tongue & nail diagnosis will be used to draw a diagnosis of your current health imbalances (Vikruti).

At the end of the assessment, advice will be given for your condition with suggestible changes to your diet and lifestyle to suit your constitution and restore well-being. This session will help to you understand how you can reduce build up of toxins, strengthen your digestive fire (agni), promote calmness and boost energy.

You will be given key action points along with detailed notes on diet and lifestyle advice for your Dosha (Ayurveda Body & Mind Type). Some of the lifestyle tools we use with clients include dietary modifications, daily routine adjustments, contemplative practices, breathing and movement techniques to address local physical conditions. It is our goal to support you through your healing journey with not only great skill and knowledge but also with compassion and understanding.

What is the initial examination?

Ayurvedic examinations generally consist of three parts:

ASSESS:  Our comprehensive in-depth assessment will evaluate your health, including factors like your personal history, lifestyle habits, family health history and much more.

PLAN:  Using the information from your assessment, we work together to create a personalized plan for you – and ensure that any risks or concerns are addressed quickly and efficiently.

PERSONALIZE:  Our Ayurvedic Experts are committed to an ongoing relationship so we are better able to understand your situation, lifestyle, and long-term needs, to ensure that any relevant issues relating to your current and future health are reviewed. Ayurvedic consultations are a great way to begin your journey. In a consultation, Our Ayurvedic Expert, can assess your body's core nature and imbalances, and create a plan for your unique situation, which may simply be some diet changes and herbal recommendations.

Learn the Healing Art of Abhyanga : An Ayurvedic
Self-Massage

Massage the breasts daily. This is the very best thing we can do for our breasts. Massage is effective at moving lymph. While no study has looked specifically at breast massage and its effect on breast health, numerous studies have found that massage decreases lymphedema, a common side effect after lymph node removal during breast surgery, where there is swelling from backed-up lymphatic fluid. Abhyanga is the anointing of the body with oil. Often infused with herbs and usually warm, the oil is massaged into the entire body before bathing. It can be beneficial for maintaining health and is used therapeutically for certain disorders. Abhyanga can be incorporated into a routine appropriate for almost everyone. The Sanskrit word sneha means both “oil” and “love,” and the effects of abhyanga are similar to being saturated with love. Both experiences can give a deep feeling of stability, warmth and comfort. Sneha—oil and love—is sukshma, or “subtle.” This allows it to pass through minute channels in the body and penetrate deep layers of tissue.

Ayurvedic treatments for menopause

Ayurveda teaches that prevention is always the best course of action so getting things in shape pre-menopause is of course preferable. But whether it is early on or smack bang in the middle of things, there are four main aspects to focus on in order to make this time of transition a little smoother. Menopause is a culmination of all three doshas of the woman’s body. The menses themselves are pitta, while the woman may gain weight during this time, which indicates kapha imbalance. Since the woman may become moody and even lose her sleep during menopause, there is a strong indication of the vata dosha.

Ayurveda advocates a holistic treatment of the menopause by utilizing various herbs and spices combination, diet and exercise and offers a reliable option to the conventional treatment. The herbs help to manage menopausal symptoms ensuring safety from associated risks that occur with synthetic hormones. These herbs possess certain phytoestrogen. The estrogen or phytoestrogen connects with the body's estrogen receptors, which enable the hormones to function properly. When the receptors are clogged with debris or Ama, the hormones cannot work properly and menopause symptoms occur.
